According to 247Sports, Cartwright ranks as the third-best athlete in Michigan for his class. The Spartans are aiming to establish an early connection with this promising talent.
College coaches often express a preference for athletes who excel in multiple sports, noting that these individuals tend to be among the most dedicated and team-oriented players. Competing across different seasons is a challenge not everyone can handle, but those who do often distinguish themselves.
Cartwright embodies this ideal, participating in football, basketball, and baseball at Country Day, where he shines in each sport. He’s widely regarded as one of Michigan’s most talented athletes.
On the football field, Cartwright poses a significant challenge to opponents. Standing at 6-foot-4, his size makes him difficult to cover one-on-one, as he can overpower defenders to secure the ball. Recently, he’s bulked up to over 220 pounds, preparing to take on a larger role as a tight end.
While he retains the agility of an outside receiver, his growing physical presence and weight suggest a future at tight end. He’s also a reliable blocker, unafraid to get gritty in support of the run game.
Cartwright has a busy spring ahead with six college visits lined up. His tour starts with Michigan State on March 22, followed by UCF on April 1, Michigan on April 3, Ohio State on April 11, Oregon on April 19, and concludes with Penn State on April 26. Michigan State gets the first opportunity to impress him, aiming to showcase their program, culture, and long-term vision.
