The Minnesota Gophers football team has offered a scholarship to Tyler Chukuyem, a 2026 offensive lineman from Georgia, as Chukuyem announced on social media Friday. Chukuyem visited the University of Minnesota and was present at the Gophers’ game against Penn State last fall.
Chukuyem, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound offensive tackle from South Paulding High School in Douglasville, Georgia, has yet to be ranked by recruiting services like 247Sports or Rivals.
Still, he’s attracting considerable attention from Division I programs. According to 247Sports, the Gophers’ offer marks his first from a Big Ten school.
Beyond Minnesota, Chukuyem has scholarship offers from schools including South Florida, Cincinnati, Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, James Madison, Memphis, Mercer, Miami-Ohio, NC State, Tennessee Tech, UAB, UT Martin, and Western Kentucky, per 247Sports.
The Gophers’ 2026 recruiting class currently includes five committed players, per 247Sports: four-star offensive tackle Andrew Trout from Rocori, three-star Tennessee cornerback Justin Hopkins, three-star Forest Lake defensive lineman Howie Johnson, three-star Arizona receiver Rico Blassingame, and three-star Illinois quarterback Owen Lansu.
