In recent years, the TinCaps have frequently featured top prospects, including standout catcher Ethan Salas, who played for them throughout 2024.

Jackson Merrill, a 2024 National League Rookie of the Year finalist, also spent about half of the 2023 season at Parkview Field.

For the 2025 season, the Padres are once again sending a highly regarded prospect to Fort Wayne, with 18-year-old Leo De Vries being named to the TinCaps’ Opening Day roster.

MLB.com ranks Leo De Vries as the top prospect in the Padres’ system and among the top 20 in all of Minor League Baseball.

He’ll reunite with Lukas Ray, who managed De Vries with the Lake Elsinore Storm, as Ray moves up a level to manage the Fort Wayne squad this season.

Lowe and Verdugo both spent time with the TinCaps toward the end of the 2024 season. They’ll be joined by 12 other returning players, including Enmanuel Pinales, Eric Yost, Nerwilian Cedeno, Addison Kopack, and Ethan Long.

The TinCaps’ Opening Day is set for April 4, 2025, at Parkview Field.
