Kentucky Snags Trio of Transfer Recruits!

The transfer portal continues to attract more talent, and the Kentucky Wildcats are showing interest in some of these players, with the latest being Frankie Collins.

Collins recently announced his decision to transfer from TCU, though it wasn’t immediately clear what kind of market would emerge for the highly-regarded guard, who has struggled with shooting consistency throughout his career.

Several top programs have already reached out to Collins. At 6-foot-1, Collins could provide a boost to an offense, and with Kentucky likely losing several key offensive players and guards, along with the addition of some standout freshmen, adding a reliable veteran like Collins could be a great fit.

Reports indicate that Kentucky is among the schools that have contacted Collins, along with SEC rival Vanderbilt and Rick Pitino’s St. John’s program.

Collins began his career at Michigan, where he played only 11 minutes per game and appeared in 31 games. He then transferred to Arizona State for two years, making steady improvements and averaging 13.8 points per game during his sophomore season.

This past year, Collins played just nine games for TCU before suffering a left foot injury. He shot 42.2% from the field and 26.1% from beyond the arc, while averaging 11.2 points and 4.4 assists per game. He has one more year of eligibility for the 2025-26 season and appears to have many options moving forward.

In addition to Collins, Kentucky has also shown interest in 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward Alex Steen, who is drawing attention from several Division I programs. Alabama is among the SEC teams that have reached out to Steen, along with Kentucky. Steen had an impressive junior season, averaging 18.2 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.

Lastly, Kentucky is also showing interest in Georgia guard Silas Demary Jr., as reported by KSR’s Jacob Polacheck. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Demary Jr. averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game last season as a sophomore for the Bulldogs.

As mentioned earlier, the Wildcats will need significant guard support with players like Koby Brea and Lamont Butler likely departing after this season, so it’s not surprising to see Kentucky reaching out to a range of potential candidates early in the process.
