Rams Face Backlash Over Shocking $10M Super Bowl Champion Decision!

The Los Angeles Rams have had a successful free agency period, with the 2025 draft still ahead. The team was most active at the wide receiver position, parting ways with Cooper Kupp, allowing Demarcus Robinson to leave in free agency, and re-signing Tutu Atwell.

ESPN’s Benjamin Solak reviewed the Rams’ offseason, commending most of their decisions.

Solak’s only criticism was the choice to cut Robinson in favor of keeping Atwell, placing the Rams‘ free agency performance second only to the Buffalo Bills.

“I loved: Nearly everything,” Solak wrote on March 26. “The Rams lost some depth and will need to replenish through the draft, but they’ve kept the key players necessary to stay competitive in the NFC.

“I didn’t love: Keeping Tutu Atwell over Demarcus Robinson. I get that Atwell brings a unique asset—speed—that Robinson lacks. But if I’m filling the WR3 speedster spot on an offense focused on Nacua and Adams, I’d rather address it through the draft or with a low-cost free agent.”

“Atwell has never exceeded 600 receiving yards or scored more than three touchdowns in his four years in the NFL,” Solak wrote. “He might have the potential for bigger plays, but last season he averaged fewer yards per reception (13.4) than Robinson (16.3). While I understand the case for Atwell’s upside, this is the weakest part of an otherwise strong class.”

A favorite of Rams head coach Sean McVay, Atwell, 25, was selected in the second round of the 2021 draft.

In 2024, he caught 42 passes for 562 yards. Over his career, he has a 99-1,343-4 stat line and now needs to prove he can be more than just a gadget player in the offense.
