Like several other teams this college football season, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have decided to skip their traditional spring game in 2025 and opt for something new. Rather than the usual offseason exhibition that fans are accustomed to, head coach Matt Rhule and his staff have planned the “Husker Games,” an event similar to the NFL’s recent Pro Bowl, featuring skill competitions and fun activities.
Nebraska’s Athletic Director, Brandon Meier, is said to have suggested inviting former President Donald Trump to the event, alongside 29 other ideas aimed at generating excitement for the event. Some of the proposed activities include:
- Alumni flag football

- Sand volleyball with the Huskers versus football alumni
- Dodgeball
- Youth punt, pass, and kick competition
- A roping exhibition by legendary former volleyball coach John Cook
- Soccer field goals versus football penalty kicks
- BMX bike exhibition
- A concert
- Tours of the Osborne Legacy Complex (the new football training facility, which is typically not open to the public)
- A Husker garage sale on the concourse
- Pre/post-event team and coach autograph sessions
- Sorority tug of war
- Fastest student on campus race
- The world’s largest tunnel/Legacy Walk into the stadium
- Fans can take home a piece of the turf
- BBQ competition
- Demolition derby (a one-time opportunity to damage the turf)
- Go-kart races
- Tractor pulls
- Giveaway of a car or truck
- Food trucks on or around the field
- Half of the field dedicated to a fan festival while practice is ongoing
- A dunk tank
- Bo Pelini welcome back (including a plush cat giveaway)
- Pancake feed on the concourse
- A media/celebrity flag football game
- Bringing back the “N” with the Script Huskers logo for the game
- A large field-size flag and live eagle
- Inviting President Trump to attend
- Involving the National Guard and military in games or competitions
With so many ideas being floated, Nebraska is clearly trying to make their spring event memorable. It will be exciting to see which of these proposals make it into the final lineup as the Huskers get ready to take the field in less than a month.
