Notre Dame’s in Prime Spot to Snag The Son of a Packers Legend

Notre Dame’s recruiting efforts have been quieter since their National Championship run in January, but don’t let the lack of verbal commitments fool you—things are heating up on the trail.

The Irish have welcomed some major prospects to campus lately, and national recruiting insiders are buzzing with crystal ball predictions. One big call came Monday night from On3’s Steve Wiltfong, who’s betting Notre Dame’s wide receiver drought in the 2026 class is about to end.

Enter Kaydon Finley from Aledo High School in Texas. Wiltfong pegs the 6-0, 200-pound four-star wideout—rated highly by On3 and 247Sports—to pick Notre Dame. With 36 scholarship offers from elite programs like Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Oregon, Finley’s no small prize.

Finley recently dished to Blue and Gold Illustrated about his latest Notre Dame visit, saying, “It was awesome. Practice was intense—I loved the competitiveness. Talking with Coach (Mike) Brown was great; I really liked how he coaches his guys up. It felt good to be back.”

Adding to the hype, Finley’s got NFL roots. His dad, Jermichael Finley, was a standout tight end at Texas and spent six seasons catching passes for the Green Bay Packers. Kaydon’s no slouch either—his junior year stats show 81 catches, 1,432 yards, and 21 touchdowns, per Max Preps. Notre Dame might just have a game-changer in their sights.
