Nebraska football isn’t letting a prior commitment stop them from pursuing top talent. The Huskers recently extended a new offer to 2027 safety Khalil Terry from Tustin, California, even though he’s been committed to Michigan State since December.
Terry spoke with HuskerMax about what the Nebraska offer means to him. “It’s pretty significant to get that re-offer from Nebraska. The former defensive coordinator had offered me before, so it’s awesome that Nebraska is sticking with me,” he shared.
The Michigan State pledge also confirmed to HuskerMax that he’ll be visiting Lincoln later this month. “Yeah, I’m planning to visit toward the end of April,” Terry noted.
Head coach Matt Rhule has been instrumental in keeping Nebraska competitive for Terry’s commitment, despite vying against another Big Ten program.
“The tradition, the conference they’re in, and an outstanding coaching staff stand out to me,” Terry explained. “Coach Rhule has a proven track record—he’s won at Temple and Baylor, so I’m confident he’ll succeed at Nebraska too.”
Even with Terry’s commitment to Michigan State, Nebraska remains a strong contender. “I’m locked in with Michigan State, but I’m keeping an open mind and soaking it all in. The Big Ten and SEC possibilities are definitely appealing, and Nebraska’s absolutely in the mix,” the skilled safety shared.
