Michigan State football is swinging big this spring, rolling out offers and welcoming top-tier talent to campus. Among them is Idaho’s premier class of 2026 recruit. Per 247Sports’ Justin Thind and Corey Robinson, the Spartans are set to host four-star offensive tackle Kelvin Obot this weekend.
Obot is the top-ranked 2026 recruit in Idaho, the No. 13 offensive tackle, and No. 147 overall prospect in his class, according to 247Sports Composite.
247Sports notes Obot’s interest in Michigan State as “warm.”
He has offers from Auburn, Michigan, Idaho, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington, Wisconsin, USC, and others.
Obot excels in track and field, placing fifth in the Idaho 3A State Championships with a 47-1 mark last year.
Michigan State’s offensive line coach, Jim Michalczik, has been diligently rebuilding the offensive line after a challenging first year in East Lansing.
The staff has bolstered the line with transfer portal additions and secured 2025 signees Antonio Johnson, Justin Bell, and Drew Nichols, plus 2026 commit Eli Bickel.
Michalczik compares recruiting to hiring, prioritizing size, athleticism, competitiveness, and background checks to ensure a good fit.
Landing Obot would be a significant boost for the Spartans, who currently have four 2026 commits, including Bickel.
Obot’s commitment would strengthen the offensive line and expand Michigan State’s recruiting reach beyond the Midwest.
