Gophers’ Stellar Season Concluded with Nine Stars Turning Pro

Despite an early exit in the NCAA Fargo Regionals, the Gophers men’s hockey team had a standout season, earning numerous Big Ten accolades and seeing nine players advance to professional leagues.

Finishing with a 25-11 record, the Gophers secured several Big Ten awards. Standout players Sam Rinzel and Jimmy Snuggerud were among the top honorees.

Four additional Gophers—Connor Kurth, Liam Souliere, Matthew Wood, and Ryan Chesley—earned spots on the All-Big Ten honorable mention team.

On March 29, Rinzel signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.

In an interview with the Blues, Snuggerud reflected, “I was lucky to play with so many talented teammates at Minnesota. I love shooting the puck and setting up plays, and that works well when you’re surrounded by great players.”

Moore recorded 33 points over two seasons with the Gophers, hitting a career-high 12 goals this season.

Selected in the first round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft by Chicago, Moore now joins the pros.
