Packers Eye CB in 2025 NFL Draft Amid Uncertainty Around Jaire Alexander

As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the Green Bay Packers have assembled a well-rounded roster with few immediate holes. However, one key defensive position still stands out as a potential priority: cornerback.

With uncertainty looming around All-Pro CB Jaire Alexander’s future in Green Bay — and despite the offseason signing of Nate Hobbs — the team may look to strengthen the secondary early in the draft.

Packers Encouraged to Find Jaire Alexander’s Successor in 2025 NFL Draft

Whether Alexander remains on the roster in 2025 or not, finding his potential replacement should be a top draft priority for Green Bay. In a recent mock draft, NFL Media analyst Gennaro Filice projected that the Packers could use their No. 23 overall pick on  a cornerback from Ole Miss.

“With Alexander’s situation still unresolved, cornerback remains a need,” Filice wrote. “Even if he stays, his injury history — missing 10+ games in three of the last four seasons — makes depth crucial. Amos has the size and versatility Green Bay looks for, and his 4.43-second 40-yard dash at the Combine erased any doubts about his speed.”

Amos, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 182 pounds, offers the kind of length and agility defensive coordinators value in outside corners. His strong performance at the NFL Combine only boosted his draft stock.

In his final college season, Amos tallied three interceptions, 13 pass breakups, and a career-high 50 tackles, showing both ball skills and physicality.

With the Packers in need of more playmakers in the secondary — and the potential end of the Jaire Alexander era on the horizon — Trey Amos is shaping up to be a serious contender for Green Bay’s first-round pick in 2025.
