Jacob Dar, an athletic 6’7″ guard from Omaha with two years of eligibility remaining, has drawn interest from Minnesota and other programs. After starting at D-II Emory & Henry, where he averaged 15.4 points as a sophomore following an injury-plagued freshman year, Dar transferred to Rice. In his lone season with the Owls, he averaged 7.5 points and 3.7 rebounds in about 20 minutes per game, but his impact grew later in the season. Starting 13 games in American Conference play, he posted 10.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and one block per game, shooting 41% from three (31/75).

Dar’s size, athleticism, and shooting ability as a wing or two-guard highlight his potential. In Rice’s final 14 games, he scored 16+ points five times, including 19 points (5 threes) against Florida Atlantic, 17 points with eight rebounds and three blocks against NCAA Tournament team Memphis, 21 points (six threes) with four blocks and two steals against Tulane, and a career-high 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting against UAB.

With the transfer portal closing on April 22, 2025, and 7-8 roster spots still open, the Gophers are actively pursuing several targets, including Jacob Dar (Rice), Wes Enis (Lincoln Memorial), Duke Miles (High Point), Boden Kapke (Butler), Jadin Booth (Florida Southern), Chansey Willis Jr. (Western Michigan), Jacari Lane (North Alabama), and MJ Collins (Vanderbilt).
