With the Los Angeles Rams holding the 26th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, making a splashy move might seem unlikely. Still, it’s never wise to rule out GM Les Snead when it comes to bold decisions—after all, he’s built his reputation on taking risks. NFL.com analyst Maurice Jones-Drew has proposed a first-round trade involving the Rams that he’d be excited to see.

“I’d love to see the Rams trade up to snag a top-tier tight end—specifically, Tyler Warren,” said Maurice Jones-Drew. “L.A. has eight picks in this draft, including No. 26 overall, but they don’t have a second-rounder, so moving up might require giving up a future first-round pick. Still, Les Snead has never shied away from parting with premium draft capital—just think back to the whole ‘F— them picks’ mentality—so that likely wouldn’t stop the Rams from making a move to bring in a dynamic weapon for an offense trying to capitalize on the final years of Matthew Stafford’s career.”
Warren wrapped up his college career with a stellar 2024 season, cementing his status as one of the top tight ends in the nation. He set a Penn State single-season record with 104 receptions—becoming the first Nittany Lion ever to eclipse the 100-catch mark in a year. The reigning John Mackey Award winner also made headlines with a dominant performance against USC, tying the NCAA record for tight ends with 17 receptions in a single game.
No surprise the Trojans couldn’t contain Warren—they’ve struggled to stop much of anything, let alone a tight end on a tear. While matching Brock Bowers’ rookie impact will be no easy feat, Warren has the tools to carve out his own spotlight. He might not be Bowers, but make no mistake—the Penn State standout is a legit threat. Once the ball’s in his hands, he’s pure nightmare fuel for defenders, with the kind of after-the-catch ability that keeps coordinators up at night.
If the Rams were to land Warren, they’d be setting him up for success right out of the gate. With veteran Tyler Higbee still on the roster, Warren would have a seasoned mentor to help ease his transition to the pros. On top of that, giving Matthew Stafford another weapon in the passing game could go a long way toward keeping pace with powerhouse teams like the Eagles in the NFC. For a franchise looking to make one more serious push while Stafford’s still under center, this is exactly the kind of move Les Snead should have high on his radar.
