Ravens Could Soon Cut Ties with All-Pro Star.
Unlike many teams, the Baltimore Ravens have stayed mostly out of the spotlight this offseason. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s worth noting that the Ravens already have a strong core, led by two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. This solid foundation makes them favorites to return to the playoffs in 2025. However, despite consistent playoff appearances, the Ravens have fallen short of their Super Bowl goals, suggesting the need for roster upgrades as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches.
As part of the complex NFL roster-building process, the Ravens may feel the need to part with one of their key players to take the next step. One prominent player in question is tight end Mark Andrews, whose name has been involved in trade rumors throughout the offseason. With Andrews entering the final year of his contract, the situation has become more urgent. Typically, teams do not trade their star players this late in the offseason, but the Ravens might be considering such a move.
Baltimore has a proven track record of developing tight ends, and the next standout player could be 2022 fourth-round pick Isaiah Likely, who appears ready for a larger role. Despite his success, it raises the question: is it in the Ravens’ best interest to move on from their three-time Pro Bowl tight end?
When asked about Andrews’ future, general manager Eric DeCosta offered a vague response, suggesting uncertainty about his status for 2025. DeCosta’s failure to immediately quash trade rumors surrounding Andrews raises concerns that the Ravens may be more willing to part ways with him than offer a fair contract extension.
