Michigan State basketball is prioritizing the recruitment of a 5-star shooting guard

Tom Izzo is tirelessly at work, possibly the hardest-working head coach in America right now, especially for Michigan State basketball. He’s not only intensely preparing his team for the upcoming season through rigorous summer conditioning and practices, but he’s also actively engaged on the recruiting circuit across various locations.

Izzo has been notably keeping tabs on Trey McKenney multiple times and has been focused on upcoming targets for the classes of 2025 and 2026. Additionally, he’s quietly making significant strides with key prospects for 2025, scheduling numerous official visits this fall with players like McKenney, Jalen Haralson, Trent Sisley, and Jordan Scott. Moreover, he’s leaving a strong impression on other promising recruits who may not have garnered as much attention from Spartan fans.

Michigan State basketball prioritizing 5-star SG Darius Adams

One such under-the-radar prospect is five-star shooting guard Darius Adams from La Lumiere (Ind.), who has identified Michigan State among six schools prioritizing him. According to Jeff Borzello, Adams plans visits to Tennessee, UConn, Alabama, Notre Dame, NC State, and Michigan State this fall, emphasizing the Spartans’ persistent pursuit of him.

Ranked as the No. 17 prospect overall and the No. 4 shooting guard by the 247Sports Composite, Adams is also highly regarded as Indiana’s second-best prospect. This recruitment represents a significant opportunity for Izzo, drawing parallels to his past successes with La Lumiere alumni like Jeremy Fears and Jaren Jackson Jr.

It’s an exciting development, and with Izzo’s track record and Hall of Fame coaching prowess, there’s optimism that he can secure Adams’ commitment.
