BREAKING NEWS: Rangers obtain top left-handed pitcher from Tigers

On Tuesday, the Detroit Tigers traded left-handed pitcher Andrew Chafin to the Texas Rangers as the MLB trade deadline approached.

In return, the Rangers sent right-handed pitching prospects Joseph Montalvo and Chase Lee to the Tigers. Chafin, 34, will join the defending World Series champions as they aim for a playoff berth. Despite being three games under .500, the Rangers are only 3.5 games behind the American League West leaders.

This season, Chafin has a 3.16 ERA in 41 relief appearances with the Tigers, holding a 3-2 record and one save in four chances. He has struck out 50 batters and walked 16 in 37 innings.

Over his 11-year MLB career with five teams, Chafin has a 3.39 ERA, a 20-26 record, and 20 saves, with 535 strikeouts in 489 innings.
