BREAKING NEWS: Pirates 2 top-tier starting pitchers they acquired before trade deadline

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed two more players from their 2024 draft class on Wednesday: left-handed pitcher Jacob Bimbi and center fielder Andrew Patrick.

Bimbi, selected in the 11th round from Western Kentucky, had a 4-2 record over 15 games (14 starts) last season, leading his team with 71 strikeouts in 54 2/3 innings.

The 6-foot, 185-pound southpaw previously played at Tennessee in 2023 and at Wabash Valley Community College in Illinois the year before, where he earned 2022 Great Rivers Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year honors with an 11-1 record and a 1.49 ERA.

Patrick, chosen in the 17th round from Wright State, had a .244 batting average with eight home runs and 24 RBIs as a junior, and led his team in stolen bases with 17. Injuries limited him to 34 games.

In 2023, Patrick was named first-team All-Horizon League, hitting .326 with 21 doubles, 20 home runs, and 59 RBIs as a sophomore. Standing 6-4 and weighing 195 pounds, he bats right-handed.
