Just In: Five-star WR prioritizes Ole Miss despite commintting to Bama

Five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, who is committed to Alabama, remains a key target for the Ole Miss Rebels. Sources indicate that Cunningham, a standout from Choctaw (Miss.) County High School, is still paying close attention to what Ole Miss has to offer.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver committed to Alabama on July 13. However, he spent the last weekend of July visiting both Ole Miss and Alabama before the NCAA dead period, which lasts until the end of August. Cunningham is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 wide receiver and the top player from Mississippi in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite index. In 247Sports’ exclusive rankings, he is the No. 3 wide receiver in the country and the top player in Mississippi.

Gators 'got a chance' with 5-star WR Caleb Cunningham

Cunningham’s commitment to Alabama wasn’t surprising, considering his remarks to Andrew Bone of BamaOnline following his official visit to Tuscaloosa.

“Oh man, Bama is No. 1. They’re No. 1, for sure,” Cunningham said. “Why not Bama? They have the resources that I need. It’s a great place for me to be developed, to get to the next level for my position as a receiver. They’re going to develop.”

Alabama’s strong track record of developing wide receivers for the NFL, including stars like Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and Calvin Ridley, supports Cunningham’s decision.

For head coach Kalen DeBoer, adding Cunningham would be a significant achievement as he aims to make his mark on the Alabama program after succeeding seven-time national champion Nick Saban.
