After completing 11 weeks of the 2023 NFL season, the Baltimore Ravens currently hold an 8-3 record, securing the top spot in the AFC standings. When asked about the team’s success and their position as the No. 1 seed in the AFC, quarterback Lamar Jackson played down its significance, emphasizing that there is still a substantial portion of the season ahead. Jackson expressed this sentiment ahead of a Week 12 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Ravens claimed the No. 1 seed following the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Despite this achievement, Jackson remains focused on the ongoing regular season, highlighting that they have only a half-game lead over other strong contenders such as the Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, and Cleveland Browns, all sporting a 7-3 record.
Complicating matters, the Ravens must now navigate the rest of the season without All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews, who is sidelined indefinitely due to an ankle injury sustained in the Week 11 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. In response to Andrews’ absence, Jackson expressed confidence in the team’s wide receivers and running backs, expecting them to step up and collectively fill the void. He noted the strength of the receiving corps and the backfield, emphasizing the team’s ability to persevere despite the absence of a key teammate, referring to Andrews as their “brother.”
