According to Shams Charania, veteran shooting guard Joe Harris is retiring from basketball after a decade-long career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brooklyn Nets, and Detroit Pistons. At 32 years old, Harris was a second-round draft pick in 2014 from UVA. Throughout his career, he has been renowned for his shooting accuracy, boasting a career three-point percentage of 43.6%.

Harris enjoyed his most successful years with the Brooklyn Nets, consistently shooting over 40% from three-point range across six seasons. In 2019, he won the Three-Point Contest and had his best statistical season, averaging 14.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists during the 2019-2020 season. However, his career took a hit when he injured his ankle in the 2022 season, causing him to miss most of the games and impacting his performance. After being traded to the Detroit Pistons in a salary dump following the 2023 season, Harris was waived mid-season, having played only 16 games and averaging 2.4 points.

Despite a challenging end to his career, Harris remains one of the NBA’s most accurate three-point shooters, ranking fifth all-time in three-point shooting percentage. He trails only Steve Kerr (45.4%), Hubert Davis (44.1%), Luke Kennard (43.9%), and Dražen Petrović (43.7%). Additionally, he holds the record for the most three-pointers made in Nets history.
