Buffalo Bills waive former Pittsburgh Steelers second-round pick after severe injury

On Thursday, the Buffalo Bills released former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool from injured reserve with an injury settlement. Claypool, who was immediately placed on injured reserve following his injury, will have to wait out the terms of his injury settlement and an additional three weeks before he can rejoin the Buffalo Bills. In the meantime, he is a free agent and free to sign with any team.

Since his trade from the Steelers to the Chicago Bears, Claypool’s career has struggled. He has had trouble staying with a team, as evidenced by his subsequent move to the Miami Dolphins just a year later.

To fill Claypool’s spot, the Buffalo Bills signed Deon Cain, a former Steelers wide receiver who made a name for himself in the UFL. They also evaluated Corey Davis, who might be a candidate given his connections with Arthur Smith.

Claypool is at a pivotal point in his career, but his skills should help him find a new opportunity. While a return to Pittsburgh seems unlikely, he could potentially rejoin the Buffalo Bills on their practice squad once he is eligible. Despite his challenges, the former second-round pick continues to face setbacks and must now navigate this latest hurdle.
