Dutch Horisk, a junior edge rusher from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco, has announced his commitment to Oregon. Known as one of the top pass rushers on the West Coast, Horisk is expected to be a rare four-year starter for the strong Braves program.
During his impressive sophomore season, he recorded 85 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks. With two more years of eligibility, he has the potential to break the Braves’ all-time sack record and establish himself as one of the program’s top edge defenders.

“I have a strong relationship with coach Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi,” Horisk said. “Oregon showed me the most genuine interest and really wanted me. While some schools were concerned about my size, the Oregon coaches valued my mentality, playing style, and passion for the game.”
“Oregon has a plan for me as an outside linebacker who can also move to the edge for pass-rushing on third downs. I’ll be involved in space and have run responsibilities, and then focus on rushing the quarterback during passing situations. It’s early, but I’m confident that Oregon is the right place for me. I love the culture and camaraderie there, and I feel great about my choice.”
Horisk had offers from several schools including Arizona, Auburn, Cal, Miami, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and USC, but ultimately chose between the Ducks and Volunteers.
“I really liked Tennessee as well,” he noted. “I enjoyed my visit and appreciate their program’s direction, but Oregon just felt like home.”
Currently rated as a high-three-star prospect by 247Sports with an 87 rating, Horisk is ranked as the No. 31 edge rusher nationally and the No. 49 player in California for the 2026 class.
HOW HORISK FITS WITH OREGON
Oregon coaches are excited about what Horisk brings to their program. Known for his relentless effort and physicality, Horisk aligns well with the traits Lanning values in players.
He has the natural pass-rushing ability reminiscent of former Oregon player Mase Funa. While he will need to continue developing his skills as an outside linebacker, his impressive work ethic and character make him a promising addition to the Ducks.

Horisk is a tenacious, physical player with an impressive motor. He’s a skilled pass rusher with a quick first step, refined technique, and effective use of his hands. His strength and power at the line of scrimmage are notable, and he has a diverse set of moves and counters.
He excels against the run, showing strength and physicality at the point of attack. Despite his 6-foot-2, 235-pound frame, he can dominate games due to his high level of competition and skill set. This season, he is also working on demonstrating his ability to drop into coverage and make plays in space.
