Never Say Never: Proposed Trade Sends Golden State Warriors’ Icon to Miami Heat

Stephen Curry’s story with the Golden State Warriors was always expected to have a happy ending. However, recent developments have cast some doubt on that outcome. Could these changes eventually lead to the greatest shooter in basketball history donning a Miami Heat jersey?

Klay Thompson’s departure from the Warriors this summer, once unimaginable, became a reality as he struggled to return to form after two significant injuries.

Thompson’s departure marked the end of the legendary trio he formed with Curry and Draymond Green, a combination that brought four championships to the Warriors. While it was disappointing to see Thompson leave, the decision was understandable for both sides. However, when a player of his caliber exits, fans expect the team to bring in someone who can elevate the roster and keep them in contention.

The Warriors failed to do that this summer and now appear far from being championship contenders. Despite reported interest in acquiring Paul George, the two sides couldn’t agree on a trade. This has fueled speculation about Curry’s future with the franchise.

In an article on TWSN, Marissa Myers suggested a trade that would send Stephen Curry to the Miami Heat, with the Golden State Warriors receiving Tyler Herro, Nikola Jovic, a 2025 first-round pick, and a 2027 first-round pick in return. While it’s expected that the Warriors would do everything in their power to keep Curry—who is still performing at an MVP level and recently won Olympic gold with Team USA—his departure would be a significant loss, both on the court and in terms of the Warriors’ global appeal.

Ideally, Curry would retire as a one-team legend, like Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan, and Magic Johnson. However, in basketball, nothing is certain.
