As of today’s MLB games, the Yankees lead the American League with an 80-58 record, among the best in the league. Juan Soto, who was a major offseason acquisition, has been instrumental to their success this season, particularly after a rough July. His MVP-level performance has been beyond expectations.
However, there’s a significant concern on the horizon. The 25-year-old outfielder is set to become a free agent after this season and is expected to attract interest comparable to that received by reigning AL MVP Shohei Ohtani last winter.
Initial projections estimated Soto’s free agent value around $500 million, but recent updates suggest he could command even more. Wealthy teams such as the Mets, Dodgers, Giants, and Yankees are anticipated to be strong contenders for his services.
