Blockbuster Deal: Blazers Ship 30-years old standout star to Lakers in Game-Changing Trade Proposal

Blazers Blockbuster Deal that Ship 30-years old standout star to Lakers in Game-Changing Trade Proposal

The Portland Trail Blazers are heading into the new season aiming to improve on their 21-61 record. While they explored the possibility of trading some veteran players during the offseason, they have only managed to move guard Malcolm Brogdon so far.

One player who remains a potential trade asset is veteran forward Jerami Grant, who has been the subject of numerous trade rumors, particularly involving the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are looking to strengthen their roster around stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis for another championship push, and Grant could fill a key role for them. However, the two teams have yet to reach an agreement.

The sticking point has been the Lakers’ reluctance to offer more than one first-round draft pick, while Portland has held firm on their demand for two first-rounders in any deal involving Grant.

Despite this, there’s still a possibility for a trade if discussions continue. In a new proposal by Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report, the Blazers would send Grant to Los Angeles in exchange for a promising package.

In this trade scenario, Portland would receive forward Rui Hachimura, guard Gabe Vincent, rookie guard Dalton Knecht, and a 2029 first-round draft pick. This deal is likely the best return the Blazers could get for Grant, given his hefty contract.

Jerami Grant on Trade Rumors: "I'm Cool Here"

Grant has four years remaining on his deal, starting at $29.7 million this season, with his salary increasing each year until it reaches $36.4 million in his final season when he’ll be 33.

For Portland, acquiring Hachimura as a younger replacement for Grant on a more manageable contract could be a smart move. Vincent would bring valuable veteran experience to their backcourt, and they could potentially trade him before his contract expires. The key piece of the deal would be Knecht, the No. 17 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, who fell due to concerns about his age but could become a vital part of Portland’s rebuild.

Overall, this trade could offer the Trail Blazers a solid return for Grant, and with time still left before the season, a deal could take shape along these lines.
