Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the fourth quarter of the Bengals’ narrow 26-25 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but his troubles may not end there.
Referee Alex Kemp cited “abusive language” as the reason for the penalty, which stemmed from Chase’s frustration over not getting a flag for a hip drop tackle. Despite Joe Burrow’s attempts to calm him down, Chase continued his verbal outburst at the official, leading to the penalty.
According to Tom Pelissero, Chase is also expected to face a fine from the NFL for the incident.

It’s been a rough start to the season for Chase, who has yet to reach the end zone and has only managed 10 catches for 97 yards after failing to secure a contract extension.
If the league issues the fine, it will likely come midweek. Chase will aim to turn things around when the Bengals face the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football.
