Sad Report: Another Mets Key Player Lands on IL

Lindor missed his third consecutive game on Wednesday but remains day-to-day as he makes progress in recovering from lower-back tightness. He was seen playing catch and doing agility drills before the game, marking his first on-field activity since Sunday morning.

“Better than in Philly,” Lindor said, comparing how his back felt during last weekend’s series against the Phillies.

After a clean MRI on Monday, Lindor estimated a 2-5 day recovery timeline. However, manager Carlos Mendoza mentioned Wednesday that Lindor still needs to complete a full range of baseball activities before returning, making it unlikely he’ll be in the starting lineup before Friday.

Lindor initially strained his back during last Friday’s win over the Phillies. He sat out Saturday’s game and left Sunday’s 2-1 loss after just one inning. Since then, Jose Iglesias and Luisangel Acuña have filled in at shortstop.
