Wolverhampton Wanderers are actively seeking new additions in the upcoming January transfer window, and there are indications that they are considering a surprising move for a well-known player at Molineux.
Gary O’Neil has had a commendable start as the replacement for Julen Lopetegui, contributing to Wolves earning 15 points from their first 12 Premier League matches. Despite this positive start, the 40-year-old manager aims to push his team into the top half of the table in their upcoming match against Marco Silva’s Fulham.
However, Wolves will be without Craig Dawson due to suspension, and Pedro Neto remains unavailable due to injury. On a positive note, Neto is reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery. Joe Hodge and Nathan Fraser are also sidelined, but Wolves may benefit from the absence of key Fulham players.
Looking ahead to January, there are reports suggesting that Wolves are considering an ambitious move. The team is reportedly interested in Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, with discussions about a potential January loan deal with an obligation to buy.
The current goalkeeper, Jose Sa, is rumored to be heading to Saudi Arabia in the New Year, and Wolves have set a £35 million price tag on him. In the event of Sa’s departure, Ramsdale is seen as the primary target to fill the goalkeeper position at Molineux. Ramsdale, previously praised as “exceptional” by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, has had limited appearances this season, with recent competition from David Raya. This situation has raised speculation about Ramsdale’s future at Arsenal, making a January move for regular playing time ahead of EURO 2024 a possibility.
