Sad Report: Top CB out for season with ACL tear

East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr., a projected first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, suffered a torn left ACL during practice this week and will miss the remainder of the season, according to an ESPN report on Friday.

Revel made an impressive play in the Pirates’ recent 21-19 loss to Appalachian State, intercepting a pass and returning it 50 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Over 24 games across two-plus seasons with East Carolina, Revel has recorded 71 tackles, one sack, 16 pass break-ups, three interceptions, and a fumble recovery.

Despite receiving offers from schools with lucrative NIL deals, Revel remained committed to the Pirates during the offseason. Prior to the injury, draft analysts projected him to become East Carolina’s first-ever top-20 pick and the first first-round selection from the school since running back Chris Johnson was drafted 24th overall by the Tennessee Titans in 2008.
