Steelers Lose Top Player in Blockbuster Trade with the Dolphins a 40,000-Yard QB

Justin Fields has seemingly locked down the starting quarterback role for the Pittsburgh Steelers, which could have implications beyond just the team. With Fields taking over, the potential availability of Russell Wilson, who was initially expected to be Pittsburgh’s top option, could now benefit the Miami Dolphins. Miami’s quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, is currently on injured reserve due to his concussion history, sidelining him for at least four games. This leaves the Dolphins without a proven starter to run their offense.

Miami’s backup quarterbacks are also in a precarious position, with Skylar Thompson injured and Tim Boyle struggling. The Dolphins recently signed Tyler Huntley, though his 3-6 record as a starter casts doubt on his ability to lead the team effectively. Considering this, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report suggested a trade that would bring Russell Wilson to Miami as a temporary solution while Tagovailoa is out, positioning him as a potential starter to keep the Dolphins competitive.

Wilson, an eight-time Pro Bowler, has an impressive career record of 115-72-1, including two Super Bowl appearances and one championship. His 43,653 passing yards and 334 touchdowns make him an attractive short-term option for Miami. If a trade were to take place, Pittsburgh could likely secure a valuable Day 2 draft pick from Miami, capitalizing on the Dolphins’ urgent need for an experienced quarterback.
