Blockbuster Trade Buzz: Contenders Eye Major Deal After Shocking Injury

After the New York Giants kicked off Week 4 with a Thursday Night Football game, they enjoyed a few extra days to watch the rest of the NFL action unfold. One of the major headlines from Week 4 was the injury to Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Rashee Rice, who suffered a knee injury during the game against the Los Angeles Chargers. With Rice likely facing a lengthy absence, the Chiefs find themselves severely lacking in offensive options.

Could the Giants soon receive a call from Kansas City’s general manager, Brett Veach?

One NFL insider believes there’s a chance the trade talks between these two teams could reignite. NFL Network’s Peter Schrager discussed potential trade targets for the Chiefs to replace Rice, and he mentioned Jalin Hyatt, a second-year wide receiver for the Giants, as a viable option.

Schrager suggested that reaching out about Hyatt would be “at least worth calling on” if he were considering the Chiefs’ needs. This wouldn’t be the first time the Chiefs have sought help from the Giants; two years ago, they traded for former Giants first-round pick Kadarius Toney, which ultimately had significant implications.

As for Hyatt, this isn’t the first time he has surfaced in trade discussions during his early career, especially considering he was a third-round pick in 2023. The possibility of a deal involving him could be on the table as the Chiefs look to bolster their roster in light of recent developments.

Jalin Hyatt Trade Rumors Heat Up: No Signs of Slowing Down

After the Giants’ first two games this season, rumors emerged suggesting that Jalin Hyatt was seeking a trade from New York. The former Tennessee standout quickly refuted those claims, expressing his love for the city and respect for the organization that traded up to draft him last year.

However, with the Giants currently sitting at 1-3, speculation about them becoming sellers is growing. It’s not just their losing record that’s fueling these trade rumors; Hyatt’s limited involvement is also a factor. He has played only 51 snaps this season, according to Pro Football Reference, and has received just three targets without making a catch.

Could a trade be on the horizon for him? It’s puzzling, especially considering he was one of Daniel Jones’ favored targets during training camp, showcasing his potential with some highlight-worthy plays. Now, though, he seems to be an afterthought in the offense. The question remains: will the Chiefs reach out again? Only time will tell.
