Pittsburgh Steelers Land Game-Changing Outside Linebacker in Blockbuster Trade

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without three key outside linebackers against the Las Vegas Raiders, as Alex Highsmith, Nick Herbig, and DeMarvin Leal have all sustained injuries. Jeremiah Moon and T.J. Watt are the only remaining options on the active roster, with Ade Ogundeji and Eku Leota available to step up from the practice squad.

As the team evaluates whether any of the injured players will go on injured reserve and considers calling up practice squad reinforcements, they’ve decided that defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk will be a viable option on the edge.

“We’ve done that before, and we will continue to do so,” head coach Mike Tomlin said, referring to using Loudermilk on the edge. “He’s a versatile guy.”

Loudermilk only played one snap on the edge, while Moon and Watt handled the majority of those snaps. When asked if Payton Wilson could be used in that role, Tomlin dismissed the idea. Loudermilk is expected to be utilized more in run-heavy situations rather than taking on a significant role as an outside linebacker.
