Rams Shake Things Up: Another Linebacker Exits the 53-Man Roster
The Los Angeles Rams waived linebacker Elias Neal on Monday, parting ways with the undrafted free agent from Marshall after he appeared in five games and played 63 snaps on special teams. While Neal wasn’t seen as a direct replacement for Ernest Jones, the Rams are exploring other options to fill a spot on the 53-man roster by releasing him this week.
The 23-year-old Memphis native, born on September 11, 2001, led Marshall with 93 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss in 2023. He was not invited to the combine and signed with the Rams after going undrafted, unexpectedly securing a spot on the 53-man roster following training camp.

When the Rams traded Jones before the season, it created an opportunity for other players on the depth chart to step up. However, Neal did not see any defensive snaps to showcase his abilities, leading to L.A. needing his roster spot.
