Expected return: 2025
RHP Huascar Ynoa (right shoulder discomfort)
Expected return: TBD
Ynoa’s rehab assignment has been paused due to right shoulder discomfort, which emerged on August 10. During this assignment, which started on July 16, he pitched a total of 13 innings across five appearances (four starts), including three scoreless innings for Triple-A Gwinnett on August 8.
Ynoa has faced challenges in his recovery following Tommy John surgery in 2022. He made three appearances for Gwinnett before being shut down on April 14 due to a right elbow stress reaction. He was placed on the 60-day injured list on June 16 to free up a 40-man roster spot for Grant Holmes.
LHP Ray Kerr (left elbow UCL)
Expected return: 2025
Kerr reported elbow issues upon joining Triple-A Gwinnett, and manager Brian Snitker indicated that the 29-year-old is likely to need Tommy John surgery. Although Kerr was optioned to Gwinnett on June 15, he did not make any appearances there and was placed on the 15-day injured list retroactive to June 16, leading to the team voiding his option.
This season, Kerr pitched in 10 games for the Braves, including two starts, finishing with a 1-2 record, a 5.64 ERA, and 27 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings. He was moved to the 60-day injured list on July 5.
RHP Spencer Strider (right ulnar collateral ligament)
Expected return: 2025
After seeing Dr. Keith Meister on April 8, Strider had internal brace surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow on April 12, which will keep him out for the remainder of the 2024 season. He was placed on the 60-day injured list on June 15.
OF Ronald Acuña Jr. (ACL tear in left knee)
Expected return: 2025
Acuña had season-ending surgery on June 4 following an ACL tear in his left knee sustained on May 26 in Pittsburgh. The procedure was carried out by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles.
“My goal is to come back as a better player and a better person,” Acuña stated on May 30. “Who knows, maybe I can win another MVP.” (Last updated: [date])
