Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds, already sidelined on the injured reserve list due to a broken finger, didn’t accompany the team to New Orleans for last week’s Thursday night showdown against the Saints. Just hours after the Broncos’ victory, reports confirmed that Reynolds was involved in a shooting incident, with both the team and police verifying the details.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds is recovering from gunshot wounds after being shot last week, his team has announced.
Denver police said they have arrested two men – Luis Mendoza, 35, and Burr Charlesworth, 42 – in connection with the shootings, which occurred around 3am, with the men held for investigation of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.
Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was one of two individuals shot during an incident early on Friday, October 18, according to police reports, with the Broncos confirming details to the Associated Press.
“Josh Reynolds was a victim of a shooting on Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries,” the team said in a statement. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”
The police are continuing their investigation and working to identify additional suspects, stating that arrest reports are sealed to protect the integrity of their case.

According to NBC affiliate KUSA-TV in Denver, the Broncos’ flagship station, Reynolds suffered gunshot wounds to his left arm and the back of his head. The report states that Reynolds and another individual were followed after leaving a Denver strip club, Shotgun Willie’s.
Reynolds, who is currently on injured reserve due to a broken finger, did not travel with the Broncos for their October 17 victory over the New Orleans Saints, with the shooting occurring hours after the game. He has continued working out on a side field during team practice as the Broncos prepare for their upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Now in his ninth NFL season and his first with the Broncos, Reynolds joined Denver on a two-year, $9 million contract ahead of the 2024-25 season after stints with the Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans, and Detroit Lions. In five games this season, including one start, he has recorded 12 catches for 183 yards and a touchdown.
