BREAKING: Ravens Place Top Prominent DT on Injured Reserve

Ravens Place Top Prominent DT on Injured Reserve. The Ravens have put nose tackle Michael Pierce on injured reserve, which will keep the veteran run stopper out for at least four games. Head Coach John Harbaugh noted that the injury is not season-ending.

Pierce sustained a calf injury during Sunday’s loss to Cleveland, further depleting Baltimore’s defensive line. Defensive end Brent Urban is also in concussion protocol, and defensive tackle Travis Jones is dealing with an ankle issue.

In seven games, Pierce has recorded 15 tackles and one sack, missing the Week 4 matchup against the Bills due to a shoulder injury. He has primarily played behind Jones in the defensive line rotation.

In Pierce’s absence, the Ravens will rely on Jones and Urban to be fit for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos at M&T Bank Stadium. Against the Browns, they had to depend more on Nnamdi Madubuike and Broderick Washington.

The Ravens also re-signed veteran nose tackle Josh Tupou to the practice squad on Monday, and he could be moved up to the active roster for the game against the Broncos if necessary.

Baltimore has used Pierce’s spot on the 53-man roster to add wide receiver Diontae Johnson, with whom they finalized a trade on Tuesday.
