The Miami Dolphins have announced the elevation of defensive tackle Neil Farrell and long snapper Matt Overton to the active roster for Sunday’s game.
Neil Farrell has played in 13 career games with the Las Vegas Raiders (2022), Kansas City Chiefs (2023), and Miami Dolphins (2024). He has recorded 13 tackles (four solo), one pass defensed, and two tackles for loss. Farrell participated in Miami’s Week 8 game against Arizona. He was originally a fourth-round pick (126th overall) by Las Vegas in the 2022 NFL Draft and played college football at LSU from 2017 to 2021, where he appeared in 52 games, started 21, and tallied 144 tackles (55 solo), 7.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and five passes defensed.
Matt Overton brings 11 seasons of experience, having played in 141 career games with teams including the Indianapolis Colts (2012-2016), Jacksonville Jaguars (2017-2018), Tennessee Titans (2020), Los Angeles Chargers (2021), Dallas Cowboys (2022), and Miami (2024). He has registered 17 special teams tackles (nine solo) and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013. Overton has also participated in nine postseason games with Indianapolis (2012-2014), Tennessee (2020), and Dallas (2022).
He played in Miami’s Week 7 game at Indianapolis and the Week 8 game against Arizona. After entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2007 with the Seattle Seahawks, Overton spent time with the Tri-Cities Fever in the National Indoor Football League and played in the United Football League with the Florida Tuskers and Omaha Nighthawks. He was a team captain and two-year starter at defensive end and long snapper during his college career at Western Washington (2005-2006) after attending Diablo Valley College (2003-2004).
