Kansas City Royals sign a three-year deal with a top pitcher who outperforms Bobby Witt Jr.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Royals have signed right-handed pitcher Michael Wacha to a three-year deal, which includes a club option for 2028. This announcement follows rumors that the Cleveland Guardians were interested in the former All-Star.
Wacha, 33, made 29 starts for the Royals in 2024, posting a 3.35 ERA (62 ER in 166.2 IP), ranking 10th in the American League. His performance contributed to the Royals’ starting rotation, which finished 2nd in the Majors with a 3.55 ERA.
Wacha ended the season with a 13-8 record and achieved his 100th career win on September 8, joining 20 active pitchers with that milestone. His .620 career win percentage ranks 6th among active pitchers with at least 150 games.
Completing his 12th season in the Majors and first with Kansas City, Wacha’s contract details have not been disclosed, but he is expected to address the signing on Monday morning.
