Georgia’s Kirby Smart scolds player for using Gator Chomp and throat slash celebration.

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart is currently upset with one of his players, freshman Nate Frazier, following the team’s victory over Florida on Saturday. After a touchdown play, Frazier celebrated by making a throat slash gesture and performing the Gator Chomp, which is considered disrespectful to Florida fans. His actions led to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for both him and the team.

Smart addressed the situation, telling Frazier, “Don’t be stupid, man. We’re not selfish people at Georgia. I’m not interested in all the antics. We focus on hard work. I don’t want to see any gator-chomping or throat-slashing. It’s not respectful.” He emphasized the importance of respecting the game and opponents, stating that the best way to compete is to simply win.

Georgia won the game 34-20, improving their record to 7-1 overall and positioning them at the top of the SEC with a 5-1 conference record.

Georgia football trying to return to the College Football Playoff

Georgia is aiming for a return to the College Football Playoff after missing out in 2023. The Bulldogs lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship but later defeated Florida State in a bowl game. This season, their only loss has also been to Alabama.

To make it back to the CFP, Georgia may need to keep using freshman Nate Frazier, a former four-star recruit who played a significant role against Florida after starter Trevor Etienne was injured early in the game. Frazier is expected to be involved again in Georgia’s running game moving forward.

Coach Kirby Smart noted, He’s immature. He’s young. Nate’s a great kid and a super talent who wants to succeed. He didn’t mean to get a penalty, but he needs to act like he’s been there before, and he hasn’t had enough experience yet.

Looking ahead, Georgia faces a crucial matchup against Ole Miss on Saturday, which has major implications for the SEC title race. Ole Miss currently has a record of 7-2.
