This duo was also elevated in Week 8 due to the absence of defensive lineman Zach Sieler and long snapper Blake Ferguson. With Sieler still sidelined from an orbital injury and Ferguson on the non-football illness list, the Dolphins are once again relying on Farrell and Overton.

Farrell, 26, played 11 defensive snaps in the Dolphins’ narrow 28-27 loss to the Arizona Cardinals but was rated by Pro Football Focus as the least effective player on defense.

At 39, Overton is expected to take on long snapping duties in Week 10 as well. The Dolphins can elevate a player only three times before they must be moved to the active roster, requiring an additional roster spot.

Instead of promoting an extra cornerback or tight end, the Dolphins decided to stick with Farrell and Overton as Kader Kohou and Julian Hill.
