Cooper has signed a four-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through 2028, the Broncos announced on Monday.

Set to become a free agent after this season, Cooper currently ranks second on the team in sacks and is on track to record the first double-digit sack season of his career.

A seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Cooper has established himself as a key starter for Denver’s defense. He took over a starting role midway through the 2022 season and has been a staple of the Broncos’ defensive line ever since.

Since the start of the 2023 season, Cooper is one of just six defenders with at least 100 tackles and 14 sacks, alongside Maxx Crosby, Danielle Hunter, T.J. Watt, Khalil Mack, and Harold Landry III.

Cooper joins fellow 2021 draft class members, cornerback Pat Surtain II and guard Quinn Meinerz, in receiving contract extensions from the Broncos. Cooper was selected with the 239th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
