Georgia Football Lands Big Recruiting Win Ahead of Ole Miss Showdown
The Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart are making bold moves off the field ahead of their game against Ole Miss, landing a major recruiting win. The No. 2 ranked Bulldogs secured a commitment from four-star wide receiver C.J. Wiley before the showdown, according to On3.com recruiting insider Hayes Fawcett.
Wiley, a standout from nearby Milton, Georgia, is a huge win for the Bulldogs in their backyard. Known for his big frame and impressive athleticism, he brings a strong mix of size and speed to Georgia’s receiving corps. 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks describes Wiley as a “big-framed outside receiver with excellent physical tools” and compares him to Texas A&M’s Noah Thomas.
Wiley’s athletic pedigree runs deep—his father, Chuck Wiley, played defensive line in the NFL for six seasons with the Carolina Panthers after a standout career at LSU.
On the track, Wiley is also a force, running a wind-aided 10.83 in the 100-meter dash during the spring of 2024. He also competes in the 200 and 400 meters.
In his junior year, Wiley averaged an incredible 21.7 yards per catch, with 14 touchdowns, and has led Milton to a perfect 10-0 regular season so far. In his senior season, he’s caught 40 passes for 680 yards and 8 touchdowns, per MaxPreps.
Georgia football putting together top 5 recruiting class
The Bulldogs currently hold the No. 3 spot in the nation for the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.
With Wiley’s commitment, Georgia now has 25 pledges for this recruiting cycle. So, who are the standout recruits the Bulldogs have secured?
Georgia has landed three five-star prospects, including the top overall player in the state, Elijah Griffin. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive lineman from Savannah turned down 40 scholarship offers to commit to the Bulldogs.
Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs added two more top-five state prospects to their 2025 class. Edge rusher Isaiah Gibson from Warner Robins and linebacker Zayden Walker from Ellaville are ranked as the third and fourth-best recruits in Georgia, respectively.
With the commitment of C.J. Wiley, the Bulldogs now have five wide receiver pledges in this class. Wiley joins safety Rasean Dinkins, also from Warner Robins, who committed just two days before him.
Georgia is coming off impressive wins, most recently beating previous No. 1 Texas 30-15 in Austin, followed by a 34-20 victory over Florida on Saturday. In that game, the Bulldogs overcame a 13-6 halftime deficit to dominate the second half 28-7.
As the Bulldogs prepare for their SEC showdown with Ole Miss, Georgia enters as 2.5-point favorites. The Bulldogs boast a commanding 33-10-1 all-time record against the Rebels.
