16 injured, 12 shot in University deadly homecoming shooting in Alabama, A deadly shooting early Sunday on the campus of Tuskegee University in Alabama left one person dead and several others, including students, injured, disrupting the school’s centennial homecoming celebrations. The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. as the weekend’s homecoming events, including a football game between Tuskegee and Miles College, were winding down.

Sixteen people were injured, with twelve of them suffering gunshot wounds, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation. An 18-year-old was confirmed dead at the scene.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Initial reports indicated that multiple shooters may have been involved, though authorities have not officially confirmed this. A police transmission suggested at least two shooters, but this remains unverified.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tuskegee University confirmed the death of a non-student, and noted that several students were among the injured, with some being treated at local hospitals, including East Alabama Medical Center and Baptist South Hospital. Social media videos captured the chaos of the scene, showing people scrambling for cover as gunfire rang out.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the shooting at the request of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office. Special agents are gathering evidence and working to identify suspects, but as of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made. The university is in the process of checking on its students and notifying their families, with further updates expected as more information becomes available.
