Yankees on the Brink of $700 Million Blockbuster Deal with MVP Star Fielder. The New York Yankees are fully committed to bringing superstar Juan Soto back to the Bronx this offseason.
Soto is expected to land a massive contract in the range of $600 million to $700 million this winter, and the Yankees are prepared to match any offer to secure him—whether that means landing the outfielder or seeing him sign elsewhere. New York isn’t holding back when it comes to the Soto sweepstakes.
However, the Yankees know they can’t hinge their entire offseason on signing Soto. The outfielder has plenty of other suitors, so there’s no guarantee he’ll re-sign with New York.
So, what’s next for the Yankees if they miss out on Soto?

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yankees are “in on everyone,” with an eye on several high-profile pitchers, including Blake Snell, Corbin Burnes, and Max Fried, along with top-tier relievers. However, these options will likely become more serious only if Soto chooses to go elsewhere.
If Soto doesn’t return, New York could pivot to their backup plan, which might involve adding one or two star pitchers, making trades, and signing other free agents. Even with Soto back, the Yankees could still make room for someone like Snell or Fried, especially if they clear some payroll by moving Marcus Stroman and freeing up his salary.
