Phillies ink two new players and lock in five more with contract tenders!
Ahead of the 8 p.m. ET non-tender deadline on Friday, the Philadelphia Phillies made several important roster moves. The team signed José Ruiz and Garrett Stubbs to 2025 contracts, with Ruiz’s deal worth $1.225 million, according to Robert Murray of FanSided.
In addition to these signings, the Phillies tendered contracts to five players for next season: Alec Bohm, Edmundo Sosa, Bryson Stott, Brandon Marsh, and Ranger Suárez. If the team and any of these players can’t agree on a salary over the next few months, their cases will go to arbitration, where a third party will determine their 2025 salaries.
On the flip side, the Phillies confirmed that they would non-tender Austin Hays, as first reported by Jon Heyman of the New York Post. As a result, Hays is now a free agent.
For the players who were tendered contracts, MLB Trade Rumors provided the following projected arbitration salaries for 2025:
- Bohm: $8.1 million
- Sosa: $2.5 million
- Stott: $3.5 million
- Marsh: $3 million
- Suárez: $8.9 million
These roster moves indicate the Phillies’ ongoing efforts to manage their roster and payroll for the upcoming season.
