The Seahawks have claimed safety AJ Finley off waivers, a day after he was released by the Los Angeles Chargers. To make room for him on the 53-man roster, defensive end Myles Adams was waived.
In addition, the Seahawks made several changes to their practice squad, signing cornerback Ryan Cooper and wide receiver Cornell Powell, while releasing cornerback Faion Hicks and running back Brittain Brown.
Finley, who went undrafted out of Mississippi in 2023, played in 12 games as a rookie with the Chargers and appeared in 10 games this season before being waived. He accumulated 370 special teams snaps and 69 defensive snaps. In 2021, he was named a second-team All-SEC selection.
Powell, a fifth-round pick by the Chiefs in 2021, has played in three regular-season games for Kansas City and also spent time on their practice squad. Cooper, an undrafted rookie from Oregon State, initially signed with the Ravens and spent time on their practice squad after being waived before the season. He was released from Baltimore’s practice squad last week and earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention honors in each of the last two seasons.
