Dillon Gabriel has been named a finalist for both the Maxwell and Davey O’Brien Awards.
The Oregon quarterback is one of three finalists for the Maxwell Award, which honors the top player in college football, and one of three finalists for the O’Brien Award, which recognizes the nation’s best quarterback.
Other Maxwell finalists include Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty and Colorado receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter. The O’Brien finalists are Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.
Both awards will be presented at the College Football Awards on December 12 (6 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Gabriel ranks second in the nation for completion percentage (73.8%) and has passed for 3,066 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while also rushing for 155 yards and six scores. He set the NCAA record for career touchdowns (180) and ranks second in career total yards (19,146), passing touchdowns (147), and passing yards (17,931).
He is the fourth Oregon player to be a finalist for the Maxwell Award, following Bo Nix (2023), Marcus Mariota (2014), and Dennis Dixon (2007), with Mariota being the first Ducks player to win the award. Gabriel joins Nix (2023), Mariota (2014), Dixon (2007), and Bill Musgrave (1989, 1990) as Oregon players who have been finalists for the O’Brien Award, which Mariota also won.
Additionally, Gabriel is a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
