Adames Out, Brewers Eye 3 Replacements

Adames Out, Brewers Eye 3 Replacements

While teams like the Phillies and Red Sox are aggressively courting Willy Adames, the Brewers have been passive in their efforts to retain him. Matt Arnold has stated that Adames has earned the right to explore the market, while Pat Murphy suggested if Adames returns, it means he didn’t get the deal he wanted. With the Red Sox even willing to shift Rafael Devers to make room for Adames, it seems likely he will be gone in 2025. So, who could replace him?

Kiké Hernández
Hernández, a veteran infielder, had an underwhelming offensive year but showed improvement after an eye test revealed astigmatism. Post-All-Star break, his OPS jumped from .557 to .766, and he continued that success into the postseason. At 33, he’s a versatile defender with potential for a bounce-back season. He could fill multiple infield spots and would likely sign a short-term, team-friendly deal, making him an attractive option for the Brewers.

Amed Rosario
Rosario, after struggling with consistency, posted a solid .748 OPS with the Rays in 2024, showcasing his ability to make contact. While his defense and quality of contact have been below average, he’s just 29 and has shown flashes of talent. A low-risk, low-cost signing, he could be a worthwhile project for the Brewers to develop.

Hyeseong Kim
Kim, a standout infielder from the KBO, is an exciting international free agent with exceptional defense and a solid bat, boasting a .304 career average. Though the Brewers have been cautious with international signings, Kim could be a fit at a projected three-year, $24 million deal. His speed and defense align with the Brewers’ focus, and he could be a significant addition if Milwaukee pursues him.
