OU Football Loses 5-Star QB to SEC Rivals in 2025 class

NORMAN — Four-star quarterback Kevin Sperry, from Guyer High School in Denton, Texas, has decommitted from OU football and committed to Florida State, as announced on social media Thursday.

The decision comes as the Sooners are in the middle of an offensive coordinator search, just 13 days ahead of the early signing day.

Sperry had originally committed to OU on March 13, 2023, when he was recruited by former offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby. Sperry transferred to Guyer from Carl Albert High School this past offseason.

The Sooners still have a commitment from four-star quarterback Jaden O’Neal in the 2026 class. O’Neal recently visited Colorado and plans to visit OU for its game against Alabama on Saturday.

In 2023, Sperry led Guyer to a perfect 14-0 season and an Oklahoma 5A championship.

Sperry’s commitment flip comes on the heels of reports that five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi is set to visit Texas and Texas A&M.

With only two regular season games left, head coach Brent Venables is focused on hiring a new offensive play caller as the recruiting cycle and transfer portal heat up in the coming weeks.

OU’s game against Alabama kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, airing on ABC.
