Havelock 3-star WR Officially Confirm Commitment With ECU

Havelock High School wide receiver Jonathan Williams signed his national letter of intent to play football at East Carolina University on Wednesday morning.

This announcement comes as a surprise, as Williams had previously decommitted from ECU and committed to James Madison after the Pirates fired Mike Houston earlier this fall.

East Carolina officially confirmed the signing at 9:18 a.m.

After Williams switched his commitment to James Madison, East Carolina decided to promote defensive coordinator Blake Harrell to head coach, while retaining John David Baker as offensive coordinator.

Williams later shared that he will enroll early and begin classes at ECU in January.

According to the four major recruiting services—247Sports, ESPN, On3, and Rivals—Williams is a consensus 3-star prospect. Rivals ranks him as the No. 26 prospect in North Carolina for the 2025 class, while On3 places him at No. 43 in the state.
